They offer complete turnkey responsibilities by detailing shop drawings, fabricating, welding, stress relieving, machining, gear cutting and assembly in-house.

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Millwright is responsible for assembling machined, fabricated, purchased component or parts in a timely, efficient, and safe manner in the order to promote and support the success of Steward Machine Company.


Essential Functions / Duties

  • Stage, sets and connects assembly components for projects.
  • Uses various measuring tools to verify fits and finishes.
  • Uses and follows blueprints to set-up assembly components to specification.
  • Aligns shafts and couples to gear boxes.
  • Determines the differences between various fits and finishes needed for final assembly.
  • Is self-motivated and proactive in addressing needs and issues.
  • Understands upcoming work and requirements for the work, communicates needs before they impede production.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly.
  • Knows safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety. Reports the malfunction of equipment to proper authority. Performs other work as instructed by supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Able to read, write basic math (fractions, decimals, and trigonometry).
  • Able to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gages, transit level, etc.
  • Read and interpret complicated drawings.
  • Able to operate overhead and jib cranes.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Able to solve complex technical problems with limited direction.

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience in construction or fabrication assembly or welding.
  • Prior experience using precision measuring instruments.
